What kind of country are you calling (thick, open)? What calls do you have? Will you be hunting day or night?

Hand calls, electronic call? A rabbit distress is hard to beat. Don't call to loud or to long.

in north texas, open country since the mesquite have lost all of their leaves, Will be hunting long lanes cut through the mesquite. . .(can see about a mile in 4 directions)

I dont have a call yet, but was wondering which one to buy and was thinking about a hand held call. Also thinking about hunting tomorrow morning after that front has moved through. . .

Wind in your face, sun at your back and somewhere close to an "intersection". Get after it. You will have fun and learn lots from success or mistakes.

I would start out wit a sceery ap-6. Back to back with your partner so you can cover all four lanes. Make sure silhouette is broken. Set still call for 30-45 seconds watch for 2-3 minutes then repeat till about 15 minutes is up. Watch for movement with your eyes and not your head. Move about a 1/4 to half mile and repeat as many times as you can.

A shotgun would be idea. They come into lanes from any direction quick so be ready to make a quick shot. You can sometimes bark them to stop.

Have fun and take plenty of photos for us.
