Question about shooting without a peep.

My peep sight broke so i had a larger one installed. Well tonight it popped out of the string. So I started shooting without it. My question is. When shooting without a peep do you tilt your head to see your pins? Or do you try to see through the string? Or beyond the string? I was doing pretty good until I started to get tired. Any help would be appreciated.

I look around the inside of teh string. I just turn my head slightly so my dominant eye sees around the string.

i shoot without a peep and this is how i was taught and shoot now;

i use a kisser button and anchor my nose in the same place everytime.
the pins are just outside the string when i am drawn and anchored. i also put a little line on my riser above the site with white-out. with this i make sure my string is lined up with that too. that just gives me one more anchor point. it sounds difficult but once you do it a bit it gets really easy and you can become extremely accurate this way.

then if you want, put a tridium pin in and you can hunt all night long without a peep. sure makes hog hunting fun!

I have shot without a peep ever since I went back to a wheelie bow from my recurve... I put a "no-peep" on my switchback as a form checker, and it worked great. When I got my LD, I did not put a no-peep on it, and just anchor carefully and look just down the outside of the string to see the pins. It works well for me. I have 4 pins that are set out to 55 yards. If you have good form, you should have no problem weaning yourself off the peep. I'd give it a try if I were you. It is especially good for those shots that are in the low light conditions just at the beginning of legal light and at the end of the day. I also have had good luck with this method shooting hogs at night with a lighted sight pin and Hawg-light.

I've been shooting without a peep for a few years now. I just couldn't see through one at night so off it came. Like SaltWaterSlick said, good form and practice and you'll be fine. I don't use a kisser nor touch the string with my nose and am consistent to 50yds.

I've been using a kisser button only for the past few years. It gets me that
consistent anchor point, I check my level and I'm good to go. Remember your
sight picture on your shots and you'll find another check point that works
for you. I found that if the kisser button is in the corner of my mouth and my level is centered that my string will align with my upper limb. It makes your shot so much easier when you trust what you see. I'm 8 for 8 this season( 2 deer and 6 pigs) using this method.

If you don't have a peep in the string, you need some way to establish a consistent anchor point on every shot. With trad shooting and a glove or tab it's easier to put your finger in the corner of your mouth or under your nose. With a compound, if you can anchor with your knuckle in the corner of your mouth, you can do it.

I've used a no-peep in the past and just reset it up to use it again. I sight off the side of my string to see the pins.

I have shot without a peep since I began bowhunting 20 years ago. I shot with fingers at one time but moved to a release about 5 years ago. I never used one because I have a cross eye-dominance problem. I am right-handed but my left eye is dominant. I also just began shooting at an early age without one. I use a kisser button and touch the string to the right side of my nose. The kisser button on my string is 3/4" above the nock point. This allows my release to ride against the right side of my chin. If your draw length is correct everything just lines up on its own. Sights with bubble levels on them help guard against canting your bow. The best piece of advice I ever received was to draw and anchor, use the pin as a reference, and then concentrate on a small quarter-size area on the animal or target. The old saying "aim small, miss small" definitely helps. I know a lot of people concentrate on the pin, but the pin isn't what you are trying to take home and put in the freezer.
