    Wildlife Resource Document

What the first paragraph giveth the last shall taketh away!! Do you go with the first or the last. I am assuming the last that says you dont need a WRD if the persons tag is on it. Is there something I missing. We always had a stack of them at camp and I would probably carry one just in case. Just wanted to know everyone elses interpretation. Any GW please chime in.

    Transfer of Wildlife Resources

A person may give, leave, receive, or possess any species of legally taken wildlife resource, or part of the resource, that is required to have a tag or permit attached or that is protected by a bag or possession limit if the wildlife resource is accompanied by a Wildlife Resource Document from the person who killed or caught the wildlife resource.

    * For deer, turkey, or antelope, a properly executed WRD shall accompany the wildlife resource or part of the resource until it reaches its final destination and it is finally processed (see definitions).
o NO WRD is required to possess a wildlife resource that is required to be tagged if the wildlife resource is tagged.
    * For all other wildlife resources, a properly executed WRD shall accompany the wildlife resource until it reaches the possessor's permanent residence or a cold storage/processing facility, except:
o NO WRD is required if a person receiving the wildlife resource does not exceed the possession limit (exception: see Migratory Game Birds - Documentation).
    * A person may use the online WRD form media download(PDF 174.9 KB) or a hand written WRD document that includes the same required information may be used.

NOTE: No wildlife resource document is required when the entire carcass of a deer (including head, which may be skinned or unskinned) or antelope (including head, which must be unskinned) is given to, or transported by, another person if the tag from the hunter's license and other required permits or the pronghorn permit remains attached until the carcass reaches its final destination and is finally processed.

It says that if you have a part of an animal (hindquarter, backstrap, etc.) of an animail that is required to be tagged, and that part is not tagged, you need a wildlife resource document. If you have either the whole animal or a part that IS tagged, you do not need a wildlife resource document.

If it is a species that is not required to be tagged, (duck, quail, etc.) then you must have a wildlife resource document properly executed by the hunter or fisherman that killed the animal.

We use the WRD to prove the sex of the deer when we are transporitng quarted up does, so that I don't have to tote the head around either.........The tag should still be with the carcass or you use the WRD to allow someone else to transport a deer with your tag on it......
