Good things to do in Port A?

Taking my wife and 10 year old daughter down for a few days in mid-August. They want to do the beach of course, and we would probably like to do a half-day fishing trip as well. So tell me good places to go, where to stay, things to do, places to eat, whatever you got. Family friendly.

    Any help appreciated!

There is plenty to do many new places have opened . many older places are no longer there . Some places are only taking cash so look for signs on that before sitting down to eat .

Stingrays has belt sander racing that is fun to watch . not a real family place though ,

Venetian hot plate food is amazing

best dive bar is Shortys .. Our kids are all adults so your night life is not the same , there is a new place that is sorta across the street from Venetian . laid back very nice great food .

Port A beach buggies best place for a cart . We go often , and his carts are EFi so they run well . We had a belt break and tear up some parts had a new cart in a hour , and he gave us a 2 day rental for free next time . Great guy .

Fishing Dolphin Dock Inc is who we have used a few times always a great time .

Port A parasail if you into that

Red Dragon Pirate Cruises for kids , more so .. never been but if they did an adults night I would

Kodys has a putt putt its fun as well

Not sure if that covers it I am sure I can tell you more we spend 3 weeks a year down there

OHHH low tide is great nice and cool take a good flash light and walk the beach plenty of crabs running around . But my GF and I play a game who can find the best item.. Ranges from sunglass's to jewelry , to fishing poles . small soft side coolers flip flops are always fun .. The amount of stuff people loose in the water is crazy .. Found a nice watch last trip , too bad it was not water proof HA HA

maybe rent a RV camp on the beach ?? you did not say if you renting or hotel .

Naval Air Station tour, not sure what they have for that but would be good for a young one.

Some of the best food I have ever had there was at Iries. Could eat there everyday.

Go to the State aquarium and the Lexington is there also.
          Dolphin Docks for fishing boats.

If you go eat at Lisabella's in Cinnamon Shore (best restaurant in town IMO) there is a big outside area for kids to play and they often have live music. Might call beforehand to make sure you get a table...

Wife and I did a weekend down there, and she talked me into the Seafood & Spaghetti Works restaurant. Was fantastic! The other places we ate while there, were pretty lackluster(not the other places mentioned thus far on this thread though).

She's been pestering me for a while that she wants to go back. Trying to hold off till it's cooler out.

I took my daughter to the State Aquarium about 3 weeks and she is 9 and loved it. I really enjoyed it myself. They have a small water park for the kids to cool off in. I highly recommend getting there early and spending the day there and see all the attractions. I will go again.

We just got back from there Saturday, there are not a lot of motels or condos open so you better book now. The water was blue to the beach and the surf was almost flat. My kids love to just sit on the beach and swim, chase crabs at night and explore the dunes. The museum is very interesting and we met the lady whose grandfather started the Farley boat. There is a picture on the wall of her dad piloting a boat while Roosevelt tarpon fished. Saint Jo island is fun to explore and swim on, the jetty boat takes you over there and picks you up. There are sunset cruises, cruises to see the dolphins and many other things that are kid friendly. Port A pizza is great and cheap, Oceans of Seafood has a good shrimp boil and awesome burgers. The Crazy Cajun is a must, the shrimp boil is good and they have pizza for the littler kids.

Decent joint, best bartender in town. She does not let you go thirsty.
