During the 2015 flood I saw a buck living just east of bar x several nights in a row that was easily 140. He was a monster for over there.

It sucks for the guys that hunt down there that they rut so early. You get maybe a week of good hunting the first part of archery season then it's a crap shoot the next three months.

Crazy they're almost hard horned already... rut kicks off in 2 weeks!

Yea it's definetly earlier than it once was and slowly moving forward.. Hunting in late December can be good though because the does have fawns so early and those fawns are old enough that they begin to come into heat before season ends...
I know of several really good deer(150-160) that were killed last year. That flood pushed some old brutes around and out of the bottoms and haunts where they would normally never be seen just as the doe were coming in.. Those bucks locked down in the areas that they were pushed to with those doe.. Some were killed..

Mid December I think is a second rut (or at least was in 2016) and I saw plenty of bucks and several mature ones moving all day. Didn’t see a single doe, had 5 bucks cruise by all before 11 am.
