Just got back from our final hunt of the season and man, its saturated country right now. I know the water got higher in the 2016 flood for a brief period of time but the table over a sustained period is as high as I've seen it and I've been out there for 20 years. We are bi-sected by hubbard creek and coudn't access most of our property and when we got .75 on Sunday it ran water like a flash flood.
Like most people we are seeing a ton of good 2 and 3 year old deer and they are dominating the fields and feeders. Older age class still lacking. Got a good explanation I'd forgotten about regarding the amount of young bucks. In years following extreme droughts, does tend to drop a disproportionately high amount of bucks. That certainly seems to be the case and offers a good explanation.
Best of luck to everyone. It should be a gorgeous spring and really expecting the turkey to be fired up.
We are on the brown callahan county line and it's dead here, haven't heard any gobbling since Wednesday, not coming to calls at all,saw some hens Tuesday but that's been it.
