    Diminished value claim advice please

Any experience or advice on maximizing a vehicle diminished value claim against the at fault driver’s insurance company? Over $21,000 in repairs on a 2017 f250 6.0.

Get a couple of estimates from used car places like car max. One would be for if it never showed a wreck on the history and one with the wreck showing. That will give you an idea what the vehicle is worth pre and post wreck that difference will give you an idea of the diminished value. Good luck fighting with the insurance company but stick to your guns and have the documentation.

Go to car pro show website. He has a guy that specializes in it. He will get you a 20 page report that the insurance can't argue with. GD luck

has the other insurance company made you an offer yet?

I do DV claims, but I usually advise that you start with their estimate, get them to admit there is some diminished value, then we are just arguing about the amount.

Sometimes they actually make you an offer that is pretty close to what it should be, but that isn't the normal chain of events.

I did one this week on a 2011 Denali that they initially offered him 560 bucks....the final number was $7,300.

I'll let you know how mine goes. 2016 Ram 2500 about $11k repairs and 3 months without my truck for what they're calling "structural damage." I've been told 10% of current bluebook value but that's not based on anything substantial afaik.

Repairs are finishing up now. I was told to wait until complete. The brief conversation I had with Geico was “we at geico feel that we are fixing your vehicle back to 100% so there really is no diminished value”. Of course I’m not buying this, but want to be prepared for the fight...

                typical nonsense.

make them send an adjuster out to inspect the vehicle.

and if he shows up without a paint meter, send his *** home and ask for another one.

I had this happen to me on my personal car used for work. At the time the car was less than a year old and had appr. 13k in damage ( 2013 Ford Fusion Platinum ). The at fault insurance paid to have the repairs completed and I used a company out of DFW to asses the diminished value of the vehicle. I believe their name was something along the lines of diminished value of Texas. All said and done Their insurance company sent me a check for $4600.00.

Following! I am in process on a claim as well. 2018 Tundra was 6 wks old when some lady crashed on I-45 the morning Conroe froze over. 4 vehicles involved and she had Texas minimum coverage of $25k per loss. My repairs alone were $19k and took 47 days to complete. Looks 100% but trade value is nowhere near that now. I filed with State Farm and let them fight with other fly-by-night no-name insurance company. Still fighting and still waiting for my deductible to be refunded 5 mths after the fact.
