I got out to the hog-lights after work last night at about 1:30AM and was able to get some field testing done with the Lehigh Defense 175gr Controlled Chaos bullets from my 13” .308 Win Specialty Pistol. Had this boar come out under the lights (legal in TX) at 120 yards and I settled the crosshairs just behind his front right shoulder as he was slightly quartering away. I squeezed the trigger and could hear the impact as I watched dust fly from the fleeing boar. As I approached the spot where he was shot, I noticed a bullet hole in the tree trunk that he was standing in front of and for a split second my heart sank thinking I missed. I then saw my first sign of blood and realized the bullet had hit true, but continued through the boar and deep into the tree. A short 20 yard tracking job revealed one dead boar (about 150 pounds) and a serious wound channel. The entry hole was standard, but once I opened the chest cavity, his internals were completely jellied and liquified. Massive damage had occurred to the lungs, heart, and liver and I can only attribute that to the front parts of the bullet that split apart upon impact and create multiple wound channels. This was evident on the exit wound side of the boar as the one main exit hole was surrounded by inches of damaged tissue which provided extensive blood loss and body trauma. I am on Cloud 9 with this bullet and how it’s performing from my 13” .308 Winchester. I have them running 2,400 FPS and am extremely pleased with both their accuracy and performance. Lehigh Defense has hit a home run with this bullet and I’m now a life-long customer! More to come very soon.....
