    Any Azalea Experts?

Planted three Encore brand 3 gallon size end of April/1st of May. Noticed one of the 3 dropped a lot of leaves and many of the remaining have brown dried tips upto about half of the petals. We’ve had rain the past 5-7 days daily probably 1/4- 1” each event. Wondering if too much water? They are in a raised bed. Sunlight may be minimal mostly late morning sun from 10-noon. The one next has not lost leaves. Fungus? Need to fertilize?

Tyler, Tx area soil is highly favorable for azaleas. Either way, I filled with peat moss when planted

Even though your soil acidity level should be right for Azaleas, they don't like wet feet. Azaleas are usually planted elevated in good draining soil. With the water events described, I would bet that they are sitting in water.

That’s what I’m leaning toward. They’ve been trying to bloom but the blooms don’t really make full blooms. The bloom dies out quick. I’m wondering if the minimal sunlight is a factor.

Usually yellowing of the leaves is indicator of to much water.
Brown tips sounds like the one plant maybe getting to much afternoon sunshine,
Also new azaleas need lots of water the 1st year to keep em happy.. at least here in the north texas.

They get very little afternoon sun. They are planted on west side of my house. I have a live oak that shades them from sun up till probably 10am. They get sun probably 10am to 1pm maybe 2pm. The house blocks sun from 2pm on

That 2:00 sun can be intense, especially this year when we went from spring (April)
To summer (may - September). It only take 1 hr of that sun to burn them
The brown tips are somewhat cosmetic only, when falls comes they will flush new growth
And push off old ugly brown tipped leaves hopefully

There is still green growth coming through despite the dropped leaves & brown tips. I can’t post pics or I would.

I have one on the west side of my house with brown spots on the leaves. I also think it is the intense sun exposure.
