    Alberta Bear Hunt!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are going back to Alberta this year, and we have a few spots open. The hunt is 7 days and includes 2 bears and a wolf. The wolves are a bonus, but they do kill a few every year. This place is loaded with bears and is a bowhunters dream. All of our food, lodging, guides, trophy care, and transport to and from the airport is included. I got us the 3rd week of the season, which has historically been the best week for big bears. If anyone wants to tag along let me know. The cost of the hunt is $3000. Jeff

Here are some pics from last year.

In peeking around various outfitters dates of hunts, it looks like Spring Bear Season begins around May 1 ?

Looks like some fun and some BIG bears.

What is the average size bear? What is considered a monster?

The hunt will be May 22nd-29th. Last year we went the first week and it was too early. We got into some snow, but we all still shot bears. As far as size goes there are a ton of 6 footers, and if you are patient enough a very good chance at a 7. That is the great thing about Alberta, you can shoot the first good one you see, then sit back and wait on a bigger one. Most places you only get one. And they can be tough to judge. Oh yeah, this is a deal for $500 off the regular price.

If a bear will fill up a 55 gallon drum...He's big enough.

Are you flying direct from DFW to Alberta ? Have you already booked it or is there a group rate for flight ?

Ok guys will try and answer all your questions. The only costs not included are airfare tip for the guide(approx. 300) and spending money. We have not booked travel yet. We have a travel agent that is on our side. Her husband shot the biggest bear last year. The flight is not direct. We are looking at approx 900 for the flights all the way to within an hour of where we are hunting. Our guide will pick us up at the airport. We used to make the drive which is 7 hours north of edmonton. This saved us a little money, but also cost us a day in the tree. The drive home was a real bummer also. You can still do it if you want. I am doing this with Texas Predator Posse, but we arent filling up fast enough. So I thought I would offer it to others as well. We will have 8 hunters in camp. I think we have 5 spots available.

Sorry shark, forgot yours. Yes that is about right. They may not weigh quite that much, because they are just coming out of hibernation, but the skull and the hide are the same. They will put the weight back on during spring. Hope that got everyone answered. Jeff
