Famed Sampson fox?

My wife took this picture of this animal on the nature trail at the back of our neighborhood. She said it was a hairless fox and I didn’t believe her until looking it up. Is it the famed Sampson fox? This is in Charlotte, NC.

Looks like a coyote with mange. Tail kinda looks off though.

I had to google the Samson Fox. It seems to have a longer, leaner appearance, but who knows.
