You can likely bring it back with Superthrive. And when you water it, it has to be a trickle for a long period of time (around 5 hrs). Then dont water again until the top 3 inches of soil are dry.

Also make sure the root flare is exposed. It may be planted too deep, and the grass growing right up to the trunk isn't helping. Remove the grass and dirt ant the base of the trunk until you can see the top of roots that lead away from the trunk.

I watered it for about 30mins straight from the hose and never noticed any fire ants.

So I scalped all the grass from around the tree and found some carpenter ants and tons of roly polys. Put down some ant killer then I'm gonna cover with mulch later. Bought a soaker hose to start watering and some superthrive. I scraped the branches this morning and they are still green.
