The compound guys sound the same way the recurve guys did when compounds first came out.

To me it doesn't really matter, with the sound them friggen things make you can't shoot much further. They still sling arrows. Todays compounds look nothing like the ones that caused the uproar with purists, and shoot tons faster.

Heck the compound has been around longer than the long bow. If you want to go primitive and high and mighty about it.

if it has a stock and trigger then its not a bow. that's just my opinion, i dont really care what anybody else thinks about it, anything "high and mighty" about that?

      yep

If it has limbs, string(s), and throws arrows it's a bow to me.

Good read about H.W. Allen and his invention of the compound bow in 1965.

Type bow into Wikkipedia and you'll find the following

"Around 3,300 BC Similaun man was shot through the lung near the present-day border between Austria and Italy and was mummified. Among his preserved possessions were bone and flint tipped arrows and an unfinished yew longbow 1.82 m (72 in) tall."
