I'm going with Fungal infection. Try a systemic fungicide on those spots and give it a week or two.

This stuff Works!

I get it in Robstown, TX from a St Augustine grower.
Before applying this all I could get was crab grass and weak Augustine.
I also apply the stuff for bugs about once a month.

I use a hand held broadcaster, takes 5 minutes to apply a 1/2 bag every 2 months.
