I've applied for the unit but never been drawn. I think it is probably a decent tag. Decent elk population with smaller type bulls overall for NM. I already have a WY tag this year but would possibly be interested in a landowner tag in the future. PM me the price they are selling them for if you don't mind. Thanks

I can't get photo's to upload, but on onX and mytopo.com, there is 51 A/B. 51B is the far west side, which is more of a checker board pattern of public/private, with a mix of BLM/USFS. 51A is mostly (90%) USFS (Carson NF).

I have only snowmobiled 51A, it's got fairly rolling hills compared to other places I have been. That being said, we only rode a tiny portion of it, so I wouldn't take what I say to the bank.

Good luck, sounds like a scouting trip is on the list for this summer!

Not sure what elk are in 51, A or B, but I did guide for elk many years ago in Unit 4 and there were a lot of elk not migrating north at the end of the 4 years like they did at the beginning of my stint there. Lots of elk come down from CO if the snow gets heavy in CO and it makes elk hunting great. Hope you find some and take a great bull. Keep us posted on your hunt!
