    Polaris Ranger 800 XP question

I have a 2011 Polaris Ranger 800 XP that I bought used and has been an absolute nightmare since day one. I have it about all worked out and fixed now, but with one more issue.

The rear yoke that attaches to the rear diff pinion shaft has quite a bit of slack. More than I am comfortable with. I know they are designed to have “some” slack unlike the front diff yoke that has the roll pin it in. How much is still in tolerance? And besides replacing the yoke are there any alternatives? I thought about drilling and tapping the yoke for some 1/4-28 set screws to take up the slack but again have read where there is supposed to be some slack. I just don’t know how much. This is my first Polaris product.

Just curious if anyone else has run into this issue.

I have a video but it won’t let me post it for some reason.

I traded off my 2011 model because of problems and know of two others with the same model that had the same problems. Had to have the fuel pump changed out due to vapor locking and what pushed me over the edge was the constant over heating issue. Finally on the third trip to dealer to have that addressed just traded for a 2015 900. No problems since.

Probably not what you want to hear, but 2011 is a problem year for them. Good machines but many quirks in that year. I would replace the yoke just to prevent larger issues down the road.

Have a 11 model 500 crew & got about 2100 miles on it & not one single issue with it. So I hope I’m not jinxing myself by bragging.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I about have it all worked out now. It’s pretty much brand new bumper to bumper now. Bad thing is it cost me almost as much to fix it as it did to buy it!!!!

Oh well. Lesson learned. If it seems too good to be true............

Just looking for a solution to the play in the rear slip yoke. Heard even if you replace it, it will still have slack. Just a bad design.
