      Don,

Are the prices I posted above similar to Kimber in Texas?

Bill, they make lots of different models in the CC class and I'd say that price is probably MSRP. You can probably save $200 to $300 at a gun show here off of list price, but a lot of the gun stores that carry Kimber will price them at full retail.

Eric, if you are willing to be nice enough to drop a mag. in his hat, you could be nice and hand the gun over to me and I could walk away with it in my pocket!

I also wanted to post I learned another insane PRK law while at the gun range. In Kalifornia, ammunition attached to any portion of the weapon is considered loaded. If the unloaded handgun is in a locked case in your vehicle (how I have to transport a handgun), and you have a loaded magazine (seperate and outside the locked case), you can be charged as though you have a loaded handgun. The penalty is a mandatory 5 year prison sentence, plus 2 years per round in the magazine. Unless you are a peace officer or have a CC permit, which are not given out in most counties including mine.

              Yikes!

Bill, what does it take to get a CC in the "PRK"?

And have you thought about getting one in Texas? If I'm not mistaken, you can get a CHL in Texas and carry i California under the recip. agreement.

                Never mind bad info:

Don, CC permits are only issued by the Chief of Police (incorporated township like San Jose) or head of the Sheriff Dept (County), and they are flat-out NOT given out to somebody like me. I understand if you have a cash business, and need to carry large sums to make bank deposits, you can qualify for a CC permit. I've heard that other counties in the rural/ agricultural areas of CA are more reasonable, but you need to be a legal resident in that county. My hunting partner is a Sheriff and he told me "no way" will I ever get one in Santa Clara County, don't waste my time.

Another absurdity, you can not buy a Taurus PT1911 from a FFL in CA since it does not pass the mandated "CA drop test". Apparently it does not have a visual indicator of a chambered round, which is required to qualify. They're taking away gun owner rights based upon "safety".
