building cover for pop-ups in open areas

has anybody ever built a surround cover to put their pop-up blind behind or inside to make it dissapear. I am thinking of taking 5 long T-post and placing them in a circle around my pop-up blinds. wrapping a layer of goat wire around the t-post up to about 5' and then using the goat wire to hold brush, limbs, & grass. Then just cutting a few squares out of the goat wire for shooting lanes. Effectivley making my pop-up blind non-existent to the animals. Has anyone ever done anything similar?

We keep a couple of "stations" built @ BAO for use with pop-up blinds. Hog panels with shooting holes cut and laced with brush. Can be use with or without the pop-up.

Have you found any particular brush type that works better than others out there. I am going to be a few miles down the road from you on 380, so I would assume the bursh types available would be the same. I am thinking about using broomweed and the tall light colored thick grass that grows around the edge of the stock tanks, almost a cat-tail like grass

Try to buy some fake Christmas trees that are on sale right now and put them around it.

Has anyone ever tried using artificial brush/greenery so it will last longer ?

X2. This is what I'm gonna use for my ground blind this year. I got 2 fake trees at the local Goodwill for next to nothing.

Hey Codie!! Nice meeting you the other day.

My neighbor threw out his artifical Christmas tree this year, so my son and myself ran out in the middle of the night with 3 empty trash bags and picked up all the limbs. We left just the center pole, couldn't figure out a use for it. I plan on using it next year to help 'brush in' my pop-up blind.

i made an awesome ground blind by wrapping chicken wire around t posts. Attaching cut brush to the wire. And wrapping another coat of chicken wire over the cut brush. It made a solid 360 brush wall with a shooting hole cut into it.

Codie, when I hunted the Panhandle there was little to no brush around and the deer could care less. I popped it up a month before season and had deer in the feeder that same evening. You might just try setting one up out in the open and set a camera to see what kind of reaction you get.

                      X2^

Just "brush it in" with corn all around it and right next to it when you first put it out. If they get comfortable eating within a few feet or inches of the blind, they'll be fine with it.

the way you do it with chicken wire you could even use some hay to fill in the gaps

I know they will get used to it, BUT I honestly think the chances of getting a mature buck within bowrange of you while hunting in a popup is better if they don't have a clue that the pop-up even exist. I don't want to leave my pop-up out all season so if I go this route I can pull it up when the season is over and pop it back up behind the goat wire cover when needed and there would NEVER be any scenery change for the deer. I have hunted and shot several deer out of popups that were set up within 24 hours before I hunted them, but the big bucks don't get big by being stupid. The chance of one coming into an area that has natural unchanged scenery nonstop throughout the year are better than the chances of one coming in to a spot where half the year there is a stand set up there and half the year there is not. And when it is there, it is obviously a stand. I don't hesitate for a minute to think that a mature buck KNOWS what a hunting stand is. Just my opinion, hope it works

Codie, I really think that varies by area. I have tons of pics of mature bucks in the feeder. I had a 150" buck well within range and could just never close the deal. I honestly think if you have open terrain that they pay less attention to it that the deer that are used to sneaking around in the brush.
