Balmorhea pool closed indefinately

We stopped by on our way to Big Bend (yes we went out of our way) and it was full of people swimming and scuba diving

Yeah that’s a shame I grew up around there and it was always a fun time to go cool off in that pretty spring pool.

Got Scuba certified there in 1999. Have dove there every year since. It has been that way for years!

fyi... i stopped by Tuesday on the way to fort davis. no work has started and they filled it back up with water. assume it is for protecting the fish and wildlife or to keep it from getting worse.

employees said the 2-3 month time frame was just to come up with a plan.

Bummer it's down for so long.

I have been a couple of times on my way to Fort Davis. That is a fun place to stop and swim.

I'm looking forward to it being open again, a good excuse for a road trip out to that part of the world. This time I'll take the girls.

I’m headed to the Davis Mountains for a few days starting tomorrow. Normally a day enjoying that pool would be on the agenda - great way to spend an afternoon. Sounds like it will be at least next summer before it reopens.

I was just watching a special on 6 man football, Balmorhea was featured on the show and they talked about the pool.

There's a Day Tripper episode that features the pool. Good show. looks like a cool spot.

I drove by there last weekend on the way to Ft Davis. It was sad to see the pool abandoned on a hot summer day - those few little businesses around there must be having a rough summer. Glad to hear they are getting it repaired.

It's a great place to swim and stay and the scuba diving is a heck of a lot of fun.

Hope they hurry up with the repairs.
