    Drone set up

Do all drones have to be calibrated every time you go to fly them? I can’t remember what brand my sister has, but it takes her about 10 min to get it ready to fly, every time she gets it out.

Cheap ones usually don't. More expensive ones yes. The ones with the no crash system do. Well worth it as they work really well at flying longer distances w/out crashing.

I've got a Phantom 4 Pro and I usually fly it without calibrating. I usually don't try anything too risky though.

        Which brand do you have??

Every once in a while it does ask me to recalibrate..

I have a Phantom 3 and Mavic Pro. I rarely calibrate the IMU and sometimes on the compass.

I wonder if the drone has to be calibrated before each flight or she just believes that it does. Also on the DJI models that I have, the compass calibration takes less than a minute if a person feels so inclined. The IMU takes a bit longer but even DJI doesn’t recommend its calibration for every flight. I don’t normally do the IMU unless the firmware has had an update. I have gone months and many flights without calibrating either but if a person feels like it is an issue the compass can be calibrated in about 30 seconds.

Others brands? No clue but if they are not cheap drones, I wouldn’t think that it is needed unless the manufacturer recommends it.

I have to calibrate my Mavic every few flights. Always wait for GPS to acquire before you fly it. Almost lost it once because I was impatient.
