He would be turning 97 in July of this year. He's had a long and full life. He was a Commander in the Navy and served in WWII and Korea. He is the reason that I'm somewhat of an outdoorsman. He was the one who taught me to ride a motorcycle, how to work on my car, and took me hunting and fishing almost every weekend. (my dad was never into that stuff) Many of my best memories are of his friend, Tom Stark, my grandad and I out messing around at Toms ranch outside of Gainesville or at the lease in Marysville. Tom passed away several years ago...I learned not only about hunting and fishing, but a lot about life and being a man from those 2 men. I will carry those memories with me forever.
My grandfather had a stroke saturday night at the nursing home that he's been at for the past couple weeks and is now mostly unresponsive. He is unable and unwilling to eat or drink and the family has decided not to do a feeding tube to prolong his life. He hasn't had any of his medication, food or water for 3 days now and will be receiving hospice care starting in the morning... He wasn't a very religious man but I'd appreciate a prayer for him, his wife of 70 years, and his son and daughter that he will be leaving behind. I got a chance to go and sit with him today...i was able to tell him my goodbye and that I loved him
