Some of you jokers are why that one guy won’t loan his trailer out! And as was suggested, I screwed up his trailer and I feel responsible to fix it right, ie equal to or better than before, not just good enough.

My buddy has seen the pics and is already aware. He said go put a swing up jack on there, but like Dale, I have had one of those twist on the frame rail (it was bolted not welded) and like to had a bad problem on our hands. I like the spring loaded jack to get this thing up and out of the way quickly, I have used bigger trailers that had those and they were nice.

I’ll see what i can get turned up and have it welded on, but will probably have them do it a bit further back so you can lower the tailgate with the trailer still on. At least that way it will be improved from the current version.

      Where do you live?
I think I have a new jack like that in my pile of extra "stuff".
I hate them, and am not going to use it; if you need it, you can have it.
      I'm in Fulshear.

Dale, I will be looking into one of those fancy jacks!

Come again....this makes absolutely no sense.

Good on you for making it right.

Good for you on communicating and making it right . I hate to borrow anything because inevitably something like this will happen. I hate to loan anything because you know something like this will happen as well. I have loaned things out and they come back jacked up with no repair or replacement. Neighbor and I went in together and rented a skid loader and bought a couple of truckloads of rock each.Borrowed their rock rake because mine was in the barn and she was just across the fence finishing with hers. Then promptly backed over it with the skid loader after my son laid it on the ground and crushed it . AAARRRGGGHHH ! Sent said son to Home Depot to buy her a better new one. Never fails !

I used a come along to put back in place, go past were you think you should stop.
Works great. Replace jack as needed.

That is a 10 minute repair and you would never know it happened when I finished. I do at least one a week. I have a full shop at my disposal and would still take it to a curb first. I would also add a plate to the bottom of the frame to support the jack like it should have had from the factory.
Bolting a jack to the side of the tongue is the wrong way to repair it. If you unhook the trailer when it’s loaded it will twist the tongue. The jack needs to be centered on the frame and supported.

It will take a welder to do, but if you bent your buddie's trailer, have it done and he will thank you a hundred times later.

For smaller single axle trailers the swing up is the ticket, as an added bonus they don’t get into your tailgate when you pull the trailer with a UTV. For 16’ and up bumper pulls the jack Dale posted is the way to go although I don’t mount them quite that high.

I always took it back and said "yeah, I ****ed it up again, I'll fix it when I get a minute". Then dad would fix it.[emoji16] I burned a hole the size of a basketball in the floor of that same trailer one time too....it was a girls fault!

You're about half right. Smoker was on the trailer, fire department showed up and put our bonfire out...never bothered to tell anyone the trailer was smoldering. I was in the house the whole time...

Hook a comealong to it and crank it straight.

I had a 24' Cobalt trailer drop the swing up jack while I was moving the trailer around in a garage to get to another boat. Came straight down on my legs and slammed me on the ground so fast that I didn't know what happened. Thankfully the boat wasn't on there and someone was with me otherwise I would still be under that dam* thing. I have a wicked scar on my leg from it but thankfully it didn't break my leg or come down on my toes!

I don't trust any swing up ones anymore no matter how new or old!
