    Mechanic ?

Have a 2006 Toyota Corolla with 83k miles. Check engine light came on this morning. Took it to ABC parts store & they get a P0171 system bank too lean code. Google says vacuum leak, O2 sensor, or fuel system (filter or pump) possible causes. Car starts & runs like normal. Don’t notice anything different on starting & driving. Just wondering if it was fuel system related would it be noticeably different on how it starts & runs?

Did ABC clear the code or just read it? If they cleared it and the light came back on again, there's something going on.

If it is cleared and doesn't come back on could just be a fluke.

Everything I can source on internet says possibly vacuum leak. Might be intake gasket. Got a friend that’s better than me in diagnosing this

had 2 of these in the shop recently, one of them needed a mass air flow sensor the other ended up being the intake gasket.

I was wondering about that sensor as well.

Quick check on that sensor is to disconnect it while car is idling & car should die if it’s working properly otherwise if it continues to idle then sensor is bad. Is this correct?
