    Academy did me right...

During Hurricane Harvey we had a family of five from down the road stay with us for 111 days until their house was livable again. When they left they got each of us very nice gifts. Mine was a Spypoint Link Evo trailcam, which is one of the satellite cameras that sends pictures directly to your cell phone. They bought it for me on December 15th, but due to the holidays it was late January before I put it out behind my house. I got unlimited pictures for a month, and then I purchased the year long subscription for unlimited pictures, which was something like $12-$15 a month. On March 18th I went out and changed the batteries, which i’d been doing every couple of weeks, but when I opened the compartment it had some gooey liquid in it and there was some corrosion. I cleaned it out really well and replaced the batteries. I got pictures for two more days and then it quit transmitting. I was busy, and finally got out to the camera last week, and it was toast. The battery compartment was full of water, and all of the metal was corroded. I contacted spypoint and it took 2 days of back and forth for them to cancel the year long subscription for pictures, and they wanted me to send the camera to Canada so their lab could “determine if the camera had failed or if the batteries had leaked.” Because we all know Duracell batteries leak all the time, and did it twice in a row in my trailcam... I could already tell how that would end, so I got the receipt from my neighbor and went to academy with the camera. I explained what had happened to the camera, and in less than 5 minutes I had an academy gift card loaded with $270.51, which I turned into a new Lew’s reel, a couple of All Star rods, 3 spools of fleurocarbon line, and a decent amount of tackle. All in all, I couldn’t be more impressed with Academy for honoring their sale of a defective product.

Academy's return policy is second-to-none. With the exception of ammo/guns, they'll refund just about anything. Glad to hear it worked out for you

Academy does good on their customer service and return/swap in store. I wish they did not turn into such a clothing store. However, I still get tackle and shoes from there.
