I've never seen (or heard) this before.

This weekend, I was out in my boat shed working on the new boat, and this squirrel outside is making some serious noise. This is not unusual as we have tons of squirrels and on occasion we have a hawk or owl come around. Well, as the afternoon goes on I realize that this squirrel is still carrying on and on. I poke my head around the corner to see what was going on, and there he is sitting on a limb chattering away...but he was a Mocking Bird! New one for me.

That’s why they call it a “Mocking bird” - they’re adept at mimicking other critters.

Had the mockingbird knew you were watching, he would have been dive bombing the squirrel from all different directions. Lol

                    Cool birds!!

Had one in the yard a while back that imitated mallard duck calls.

Scientific name is Mimis polyglottis which translates to "mimicker of many voices"

I've got a Mockingbird that will come and land on the fence just outside my garage door when I'm out there. He just sits there making bird sounds like he is talking to me. I named him Buddy. One weekend I was working on my truck and Buddy started trying to mimick my 1/2" impact! It wasn't perfect, but he hit it pretty close.
