As a Gyrene I think it's humorous, the picture, I chuckled. I knew he was a CPO.
I knew several.
Shoot there was several MCPO I saluted every time I was on post at my first duty station in Naples, Italy.

Why? I was assigned double shifts and it was about 530 a.m.
If I saw something shiny on the color I'd rendered a proper Military Salute.

A couple ignored me. One would say At Ease Devil Dog I'm just a Chief. He started bringing me Cappuccino.
I got to know him real well. He was a PADI Dive Instructor. We dove together several times. At that time he'd served 24 years all of it Shore Duty.
