If I'm still alive, ambulatory and can gather the energy - and I guess I better add - if I would be welcome...
I might just attend next year. Accommodations, events, food, how many days it goes on, those kind of things. I've not read anything about it here because I never thought I'd be going - until the past few days, that is. But why not? I've about stopped hunting, the fire has burned to embers (although I still do some fishing) and I'm thinking that I oughta maybe socialize a bit more. I do enjoy listening to and telling stories.
I'll reserve any and all questions for a couple days - figuring that most of them will be answered before I ask.

Bownanza is a one day event. Kind of like a family reunion except instead of bringing a side we cook everything there the morning of. Many will join a food team but that’s not required. For first year members it may be better to just come out, socialize, sample many different foods and just gather in what Bownanza really is.
I’m on Team Mudbug (the greatest team I might add) and there’s a team Rib, chicken wings, fish, gumbo, gordita and Bloody Mary for the morning, bean, etc... We’ve had boudin, gator tails, chili and some others depending on who can make which year.
There is no cost to eat or socialize, just show up!! Many get there for Friday night at the park to sample foods and have a cold beverage meeting old and new friends. Saturday evening is a fun time at the Hilton winding down and seeing some for the last time for a year. Or two...
Bownanza Is not a shoot nor a drunk feast. Many bring their kids, their parents and their grandparents. Many of us are grandparents... Bownanza is a family reunion of like minded individuals talking just like around a campfire. Hunting, fishing, life, death, aches and pains.

Forget any of the online banter be it positive / negative you may be concerned with filtering into bownanza...that all goes away, other than some current event / politics chat between rational adults that stays civil.

You will make a dandy addition Bob & all good story tellers are welcome...You stay Fri & Sat night if traveling. Between the food & good people, you will turn into a regular GOF member I reckon.
