I dont know if I'd file a claim on the insurance. Find out what the cost is, probably not more than the deductible.

Thanks everyone. Waiting on the electrician now, had to wake up early for 1pm-5pm arrival. I'll let y'all know, hopefully not expensive but thhanks for the tip on home owners, wouldn't have thought to even try that.

Can I just trim back and re-terminate these or we talking whole new wire runs?
this is a good example of why you want to put the neutrals on their own bus bar, separate from the ground. does your son ever get a tingle when he touches certain appliances/electronics in the home?

            Curious
Why would this be an insurance claim?

Not that I know of. About 8 years ago we had some outlets that worked on and off sometimes but started working randomly and never gave problems after.

Probably depends on cause I'd imagine which is still TBD. Rats chewing wires, lightning strike, etc.

I would put my money on your electronics. They are creating "noise" bad harmonics on your neutral and results in heat. Hence your wires are melting.

Those three systems use a LOT of power. They're all on breakers that are plugged into a different neutral bar though with zero melted wires. I don't know if that means they're innocent or not but I'll definitely point out to the electrician. I'm also gonna get a quite to run some dedicated outlets while he's here, plenty of extra room in the panel for more breakers.

Looks like at least one if not a few neutrals have burnt in two, and starting touching a separate neutral, which has caused that neutral to be overloaded, its hard to tell from that image. But that would explain why several outlets were working intermittently then started working again. Sure way to tell is to pull that broken neutral away and see if those outlets that were giving you trouble are no longer working. Or if you have a meter you will have voltage from hot to ground but not hot to neutral.

It’s a failure of an existing system, a claim would be no different than a slab leak.
