    Sam Rayburn help

My son (4th grade) made a bet with me and won! He bet he could go a whole year without soda pops. If he did, I was to pay off with a guided fishing trip on Sam Rayburn. (I didn't tell him that I win either way!)

So I booked a guide and we are going this Sat. Since he has off school on Friday, I figured I would take the boat and we could fish on our own Friday. That is where I could use your help...

I am never fished Sam, so I was wondering if the "Green Screen" wanted to share any spots and bait tips? We should be hitting it right with the moon phase, weather and water temp.

    Any pointers are appreciated!

Veach basin , whipperwill cove. Should get some on beds but if not throw a fluke on the grass lines and you should have a fun day .

Of course that all depends on where you’re r staying in the lake. If down by umphreys pavilion the cove by farmers flats ( can’t remember the name sorry) or throw a wacky worm around the marina

It's great big, but you can catch bass from one end to the other.
I lived on the North end for about 7 years. If the lake is up at all I would be in the Deer stand area with a weightless lizard. Should be good catching.

We are staying in Zavala. I will have my bass boat with me. I know the lake is up about 1' from normal based on recent research. I also know the lake has lots of timber so I want to be careful not to tear it up running where I shouldn't.

            Thanks for any help!

Make sure you get a burger from Dairy Mart in Broaddus.

Cross the 147 bridge and fish the canyons area.

Sorry, you don't even cross the bridge if you are staying in zavalla.

I have never in dozens of trips been blanked fishing this area. Several 6+lb fish especially this time of year. Throw a soft plastic with some purple flake in it and hang on!!

Red bug lizard. Should be a few still shallow. I usually have good luck around Hanks Creek.

If you want a pretty ride go under the 103 Bridge and follow the Attoytac river.
