    Windows 10 computer gurus...

Got an email today from a customer that was a screenshot of their computer screen. Tried to click on the attachment and got this message:

There's a problem with photos. contact your system administrator about repairing or reinstalling it
Tried to access photos on my computer and got the same message. I had recently accessed my photos last week to make a film reading test for our employees so something has happened between then and now.

After googling the issue, it seems that a lot of others have had the same issue with photos and other apps with zero results.

I tried these fixes suggested from Microsoft with no resolution:

Method 1: I would suggest you to run the App troubleshooter.

    Refer:

Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps

If issue still persists try method 2.

Method 2: Follow the steps to clear the store cache:

    a. Press Win + R on the keyboard

    b. Type WSRESET.EXE and hit ok

    c. Restart the computer

If issue didn't get resolve try method 3.

Method 3: You may check if the Proxy setting is enabled or not. If enabled, try to disable the same and check:

    Follow these steps and check.
    a. Press Windows Key +R, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter.
b.Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

    c. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.

    d. Click Ok.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you open File Explorer do you at least see all your photos under the Pictures folder?

Yes. Folders that contain some pics and individual pics themselves. Can not open either.

Check to see if it is all Windows Store Apps or just the Photo app by seeing if the new Calculator will launch... Click Start and type CALC and hit enter.

If you are in a pinch I bet your photos will open under a different app. You could select a new default app if you download something like GIMP or just use Paint.

Try running the system file checker. From an admin command prompt (right click Start and select Command Prompt (Admin)) type SFC /SCANNOW

It says the apps data will be deleted. Does that mean it will delete the photos as well?

It should not delete the photos but as with anything copy all your photos to another folder or disk just to be safe.
