Hey guys, I have a few questions. I have always wanted to try raising bees and I think I may be in a position to start giving it a go. I recently bought a house on 2 acres in Joshua. The closest house to where I would want the hive is maybe 50 yards away. That house would be behind the hive. The next house is maybe 100 yards away straight in front of the hive. I don't want to be a crappy neighbor, and not knowing the nature of bees I was wondering if they would be far enough away.

Bees are known to forage for miles, shouldn't be enough bees to be a problem for your neighbors though. What you would need to do is to learn to recognize swarming behavior, when a hive swarms there is going to be a cloud of bees on the move looking for a new place to set up housekeeping, you need to be in a position to head this off. BUT....even if you do contain your bees once the neighbors find out that you keep bees, every bee related problem that comes up will become your fault, regardless of the fact that there are probably wild bees in place and have been for awhile.
