What aquatic vegetation would you plant?

Going to start planting some aquatic plants around parts of the shoreline of our 15 acre lake. We have duckweed and unfortunately to much hydrilla at the moment. Goal is for fish habitat as well as birds etc....

If you have hydrilla, why do you need anything else? Fish love hydrilla

I have a love hate relationship with it. Need to control it better.

Non invasive lilly pads would be nice, you know, if there is such a thing.

I would be very careful with lily pads we fight them all summer

I would let mother nature do the work. Duck's and other birds will bring in other types of plants as the come and go. I had duckweed in my tank a few years back and it completly took it over.

Could you control it with a couple grass carp? I have seen people consult a biologist on this. It usually seems like their advise it to have enough to eradicate it. I'd say if the biologist tells you you need 10, try two.

Disclaimer....I'm not saying I know more than the biologists! There has to be a happy medium though.

1-2 carp is not enough to make any difference on 15 acre's. I put 15 in my 1.5 acre tank last year. It has started to make a difference.
