    Does he make P&Y?

OK OK. Wasn't actually a bow kill. I just don't know how to judge a rat.

My wood shop became infested with rats after I left a bag of corn in the corner at the end of the season. When I worked in the shop at night, I could hear one running around behind a bank of shelves, but wasn't overly worried. Then one night I went out about 11:00. When I opened the door and turned the light on, I was shocked. ****ed things were everywhere. I declared all out war about a week ago. Five of the big snap traps and two DIY buckets traps. As of Saturday morning I had 15 down. No takers Sat night or Sunday night. Then last night I got the patriarch. I now have out several baits for any sneaky ones left.

I worked at a feed store for a awhile and we were slap over run with them. They knew what glue boards were, didn't care to even sniff a trap, and they wouldn't eat the bait. So I brought a pellet gun and started tearing them up. I think the biggest was right at 20 inches. The pellet gun was only so effective but it was dang sure fun! Eventually we had a guy come put some dust out that sticks to them and when they groom themselves they ingest it. Not one rat from then on.

I believe he makes it, but should have let him go another year. Looks 3.5ish and not real mature.

Are you going to get him mounted?

He's a beast all right. But if it's all the same I'd like to reserve judgement until the 30 day drying period. He might lose an inch or two between now and then.

A couple things to ponder when it comes to mice and rats.

You know what they say, "The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese"!

For whatever reason, we had rats moving into our neighborhood a few months ago for the first time. I went all out on them with glue traps, poison and the new pellet gun my wife told me to buy. Thought I had killed them out so I lent the pellet gun to my neighbor...there was a lone holdover, but once my 5 year old spotted him on the window sill it was game over. No rats since!

They invaded me this winter. Don’t get me wrong that’s not a big foot but it was a **** big rat! I caught a bigger one but I cannot find the pic.
                          Regardless I believe crippler wins!

I had one outside this winter. I heard the darndest racket coming from the condenser unit outside. Stupid rat either crawled in when then condenser kicked in or he was already in there. Needless to say there was rat **** scattered all over the place. And what was left was enough to freeze up the fan blade when he got stuck between the blade and the coils.

To the OP. Your gonna have to wait the 60 day drying period before measuring him to be sure, but I'd say he'll make it.

That's some fancy shootin' there Tex. If I'm not mistaken it looks like you took out both lungs and possibly the heart with that precision archery work. You ought to leave it up just like that so everyone can admire your skills.
