    However, a weld up will work much better for a house, in my opinion. You can use 4" square tube for the columns and put your purlins at 8' height in the walls. This lets you use 4" metal studs for the walls and you don't have to go around the columns like you would with I beam or cold form columns. The wall girt at 8' lets you put your rafters right on top of the wall girl and you don't have to frame around it like in most barndos. It just gives a much cleaner look and will be cheaper as well.


    I’ve been told that some home insurance companies won’t insure welded frames for some reason? Have you heard this or is there any truth to it?

                    So we met with a builder on Friday. He quoted us a turnkey home, except a septic system, for $120/sq ft. Does this sound correct to you guys? We are not wanting anything too extravagant.
