3 point or Utv Spray rig?

I have heard pros and cons for both. I have always run atv/utv spry rigs in the past. Looking to upgrade this year and curious what everyone thinks.

Are you spraying large open pastures, or small/tight spots that are hard to get to?? You ought to be able to get a 40-60 gallon in the back of the utv pretty easy. Plenty of tractors you could do 150-200, easily.

Also, the amperage to run more than a 4gpm electric pump starts getting pretty high. If you need more flow than that, a pto driven pump would be the ticket.

I would say medium size areas. We are increasing the size of several of our food plots this spring to 3 to 6 acres. Total area I will be spraying will be roughly 20 acres over 5 or 6 plots. Fimco makes a nice 45 gallon UTV sprayer with a boom and a 3.8 gpm pump, but I cant find one anywhere near here.

I have a Fimco 25 gallon atv sprayer. It is pretty much boomless as the spraying arm is about the same width as the tank. It works well. I typically adjust the angle of the spray nozzles to spray 20’ swath. It’s advertised as 30’ swath but I get much better coverage the way I run it.

It mounts to a 4 wheeler easy and I’ve got a wooden frame I bolt it to that sits in the back of my ranger perfectly. I just take the tailgate off and strap the frame down good. I’ve sprayed hundreds of acres with it over the years....yes, lots of trips back to the shop to fill up, but with the water pressure there, it takes less than 5 minutes to mix up a batch and fill the tank.

I mainly have used it for those areas of the place that are not easily accessible with the tractor and big pull behind spray rig.

I got my UTV sprayer from Northern Tool but I'm sure Tractor Supply also has the same. I think it is only a 20 gallon, but they had bigger ones. That is the only size I needed.
