It’s not a mud flap. There is this stuff that is called air. And if move through it fast it pushes back. You can also breathe it.

Those prevent air turbulence within the wheel wells and help with mpg. The front air dam drops down in front of the front wheels for the same reason. Keeps them from having to build the bed of the truck from recycled beer cans.
