Looking for a Job in the Lubbock area

My son graduated from Texas Tech a few months ago with his Masters in Business Administration. He had planned on going to med school but did not get accepted. He has been working part time at United Supermarkets during school and since he graduated. He is looking for a full time job and career.

If anyone knows of a company or business in the Lubbock area that is hiring please post or PM me the info and contacts and I will get him to send them a resume.

He is smart as a whip and "yes" sir "no" sir type kid.

Since he has history at United, he may look into their management trainee program... assuming they still have it. In their pre-Albertson's days, this program was an on the job and in the classroom setup to prepare you for one of their management positions. Management retention is high and their pay is (was) pretty salty. Fifteen years ago, some general manager's quarterly bonuses were north of $200,000.

That was my plan with my RHIM degree, but they incorporated a hiring freeze when I applied due to an lawsuit within the program. He may look into it...

Rawls Fair was on 2/21. Would have been a good one to attend for a job. Any reason he is committed to staying in the LBK?

I knew it was sometime in February but missed it by a week. But honestly in the kid graduated from the rawls college of business he should have known about or been in the loop on the career fair. It is a great place to get hired on with tons of companies. I was hired by my current company there and had internships every year before that with no issues or shortage of offers. If he can scratch by till the next fair that would be my suggestion to get into a good career with good companies.

I hope he was at the fair will ask. His girlfriend is from that surrounding area is the reason he wants to stay in the Lubbock area. Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone else has anything let me know.
                  Thanks

Special Ed Dept with the Lubbock ISD. They can never hire enough teachers or get them to stay. Will always have job openings, not much pay, working with ED kids ain't the funniest thing in the world, but there are rewards at times. Good amount of time off with summer breaks, but it takes a certain breed of people to take kicks hits, spitting, screaming, running and whatever else these kids come up with. Just a thought!

If he has any interest in first responding, the fire department is another option. LFD doesn't pay as well as the LPD (still enough to make a good living,) but the retirement is SWEET! It also offers time off if you want a second gig. Both would require a little more school, but it is worth it in the end.

Wanted to update this. My son was hired full time by TTU in the administration office in the School of Nursing as a Logistics Coordinator. I wanted to thank everyone for their post and help.

Just some advice for young people looking for jobs. My son had worked part time for TTU in the Office of International Affairs as a student assistant several years ago while going to school at Tech. He left that job under good standing with the lady that was his supervisor then. Fast foward to him applying for this full time job with Tech. I suggested he call his ex-supervisor to see if see knew the supervisor hiring for this full time Logistics Coordinator job and ask her to give him a reference. He was like"there are hundreds of people working for Tech the odds of her knowing them are slim". I pushed him to call. Not only did his ex-boss know her they where friends. Helped him tremendously in getting an interview and getting the job.

Remember all things being equal it's not what you know, but who you know and how they remember you!
