I've got one....or had one, until my dad stole it.

Great camera! I can't tell you alot about the features.......I set them when I got it, and now I just hang it on a tree, keep batteries in it, and it takes a bunch of pictures.

    IR pics are great too!

      I have one also.

Battery life is excellent. I change batteries about every 3 months so I don't have a solar panel on mine. It takes 4 D Cells and 3 C Cells.

Daytime pics are clear but with the IR camera the colors are a little off. In general the darker the color is the lighter it shows up in the picture.

Night time IR pics are a little grainey. I set mine on the highest picture quality but it didn't seem to make any difference. I can still see what I'm wanting to see and people driving up and down the county road about 300 yards away don't get to see a flash every time it takes a picture which helps to keep it from growing legs and walking off. I did buy a Python cable lock and lock it to a pretty good sized tree but it still wouldn't take a lot to get it loose.

All in all I like the camera but I haven't decided if having a camera is a blessing or a curse. The big ones always seem to show up when I'm not there.

I would also like to see a few of the night and day photos from this camera.

Another question, at night, what is the effective range for the IR flash?

If you do not want to post your pictures here please email them to me at arrowsmith@classicnet.net

            Thanks

Tuthdoc will be the authority on this and probably has no less than 9,000 pictures taken with a Leaf River. I think I bought mine on his advice.

I know that mine takes much better photos in the daytime when it's pointed dead North.

                Leaf River photos

Pay no attention to the date stamp. I haven't set it yet. I've already shot the bobcat in the first photo. I'm after the coyote, and bobcat in the last photo now. I like the camera, but there are times when I think it should have taken a picture but it didn't. For example, in one photo(not shown) the hog carcas is uncovered, and in the next photo taken it's been covered up with leaves by the bobcat. With that much motion going on to cover the hog it should have taken a picture. ??? Other than that I'm happy.

Trick, how far is the camera from that tree the carcass is tied to?

I have 2 of them an '05 model and an '06 model. The '06 model takes better daytime pics than the '05, the nightime pics are about the same. I too really like these cameras. For the '06 & up models they have an accessory that I will be purchasing to help boost the night time picture quality. It's an external IR array that plugs into a port on the bottom of the camera. Up to 4 can be daisy chained together and are self powered so no extra drain on the camera batteries.

I purchased one from cabelas and when I got it home the internal display did not work. I ruturned it and the memory card and was going to get another and there were no more memory cards for it so I asked for the one I had just returned and they would not sell it to me, so I left without buying another cam. I think I will get one soon though I just loved all the features.

TRICK--the problem that you have may be due to the time setting between pics or if you have it on power save mode I think it takes time to charge up before it snaps the first pick after it has been idle. Just a guess, hope it helps.
