    Travel Trailer Question

We are camping in Red River, NM next month and I'm sure it's gonna be really cold at night. My trailer has exposed tanks and some exposed Pex pipe, otherwise the bottom is sealed up. I have purchased a heating pad for the fresh water tank so I'm not worried about it and I will use RV antifreeze on the black and gray tanks. So here's the question. Can I get away with regular pipe insulation on the Pex or will I need to add some heat tape to those lines to keep them from freezing?? Or is there a better solution than that?

Assuming temps in the low teens regular insulation Isnt enough imho. Heat tape is nice because you can rig it up at home and just plug in. That’s what I would do

Heat tape will work but if you are talking about your fresh water hose just disconnect it over night and make sure you have water in the fresh water tank.

We did this up in NM.

Heat tape it is! Gonna bring it home this weekend and get measurements going so I can order some. Thanks.

If you have electricity there, you can take a few heat lamps and set them under your trailer kind of pointing them at the exposed area. Also you can take a tarp, and cover the block the side the wind will be blowing from

            UPDATE:
We spent 5 nights in Red River, NM and everything worked as planned. I put a tank blanket on the freshwater tank and heat tape on the exposed pex pipe. The trailer performed well down to about 25 degrees and no frozen pipes. I highly recommend these items for winter camping. FYI I did not insulate over the heat tape and it still worked well. Also, day time temps got up in the 40’s and that helped a lot. Thanks for the input!
