They usually seem larger in person in my experience. Size of the deer is important, too.

A scrawny, 150 pound young buck with a 110” rack can look pretty good on camera until you consider that its a small bodied deer.

A full grown buck with proportionally similar headgear to the 150 pounder will probably have 20+ inches on him.

To me, night time infrared pics seem to enlarge antler size. My 3 and 4 year old deer always look bigger, and sometimes you get a tall 2 year old that you think could be a post-mature deer on cam and then see him in real life and the wind is blown out of your sales.

Killed one this year that was considerably bigger on the ground than he looked in the one photo I had.

I really dont see much difference. Sometimes the IR can deceive you

I guessed this buck to be 140 or so...I was wrong, you tell me what he scored, I was able to measure his rack, so I know what he scored. Dates are accurate

I had several bucks this year that on camera looked old enough and needed to go. Then when I saw them in person I didn't think they were old enough so I removed them from the hit/cull list. That seems to happen more times than not. With that said, everyone on here including myself had the buck I shot last year in the mid 130's and he taped out at 144 even.
