Avoiding Toll Fees on Grand Pkwy in Rental Car

Random question folks: I have a rental car that will be traveling up and down the 99 Grand Parkway starting tomorrow. I currently have an EZ Tag on my truck, and in the past, have done what they call an EZ Plate that adds a car temporarily to your account. However, I just noticed this on the HCTRA website:

NOTE: EZ Plate will not work on toll roads operated by other agencies (i.e. Grand Parkway, Ft. Bend County’s section of Westpark Tollway, toll roads in other cities).
EZ Plate vehicles will be charged a higher toll rate.
I called FBCTRA and TxTag and neither had any advise on how to avoid the fees. I know it can get pricey driving from Woodlands to Sugar Land. Any thoughts, or should I just avoid it all together and take the BW8?

    Thanks!

Roll with it for the convenience. I'd rather pay more and have a straight route.

Call toll authority. I "think" rental cars are somewhat covered and tolls are just added to your bill. At least that is what one of my vendors told me after he ran the first one then decided to stop at the next and ask the question

Switch to TxTag. It works on Eztag roads. I am about to do this to get rid of the PITA HCTRA Eztag.

The tolls are added to your bill but there is a very high fee for processing from rental company.

Believe you can pay for ez tag on rental to save some money?

Can I create a TxTAG account for my temporary vehicle?

Switch all your cars to Tx Tag then I believe you can add a temp vehicle.

I doubt his rental is faster than 147 or so. Hennesy built a vet that got hit around that speed.

Easier to just take the plates off

                      What is ez plate?

I use my Eztag on all toll roads in Houston.

Call you rental company. They use to hit you for a 15 dollar fee to turn it on then just regular rates.

I’ve never hit 200 but, I have to think you still get that floating sensation similar to a bike.
