What is y’all take on hazing?

I believe it is a character and mental strength builder if done correctly.

Some of the high school and sports hazing that I have been hearing about nowadays is extremely disturbing (sexual assaults).

Agree with the above..went through plenty of hazing (late 1980's) but nothing dangerous or illegal. We had plenty of more mature guys that would have shut-down anything like that although I don't remember it even coming up.

What is y’all take on hazing?

The spate of hazing horror stories that have been well-publicized recently may be the death knell for fraternities on some campuses. Almost 100% are alcohol related in some way. (no surprise there!) It may sound odd but I recall those days - even the hazing - quite fondly. Even back in the 70's we did not go overboard - no forced drinking, nothing violent or abusive - at least by the standards of the day, just "rites of passage" kind of stuff. I agree that the sexual hazing you read about today is very disturbing - doing stuff like that would have never occurred to us. 18-20 year old college boys will do some really stupid things whether they are in a frat or not. I do remember a few times when things started to get out of control, but there were always a few upperclassmen around to put a stop to it.
