Let’s pretend that you show up to your lease and there’s equipment with “Atlas Geophysical” on the property with a crap ton of new roads cut. What would your assumption be that was happening?

If that's what's going on nothing really. They will cut you some new roads drill a few holes and be gone in a month or so. Be glad it's now and not September. It could mean drilling later on you never know how long it could be though.
