          these were made in late 1700's by the assistant to the medicine man of the native american cingularhah tribe. Was used to distinguish their cell phones from other tribes.
          usually colored orange using salmon eggs mixed with buffalo tongue ..or orange tang.. whichever they had the most of at the time.

              BUT that is 100% modern and made from Burlington chert from Missouri or Illinois. Very few effigies/eccentric pieces have ever been found. Even when they are found they usually have some sort of resemblance to a known type.

                  I'll bet it's a tool to uniform arrow shafts.
                  No those are in the shape of a half-moon. I found one near Cotulla and it's in the ranch owners collection now.

                  Never seen or heard of one of those thunderbird looking objects being ancient but you never know.

                  I'd take it to an expert at UT and have it examined and carbon dated.

                            It’s called an effigy. Probably this one is an eagle. Natives would chip out forms, toys and unusual objects like this for children and tribal ceremonies.
