Well I don't know what to say about this one guys.

I figured change would come, but I did not realize that we would have to dygress back to horse and buggy. Before you know it my wife will be hauling water from the trinity on her head in a clay pot.

Well guys I just heard on David Letterman that he who shall not be named do to his political position has been named the most admired man in America or as it will soon be Known as the O-Nation.

Well for someone who did not know what to say, I sure dug up a few words.

I pay to send my kids to private school so I think that I should get my money back that I pay for school taxes too.....
It really sucks that they are trying to find a way to replace tax revenue since people are driving less and driving more fuel effecient cars. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

        1) I sincerely believe the idea of taxing for miles you drive will not work (and is unenforceable), so will never be implemented.

        2) Until the government starts using the tax dollars they collect now more responsibly, I am against any additional taxes.

        3) No one has shown me any numbers proving that the overall revenues from gas tax have actually gone down. Yes, the cars are more efficient now, and people are driving less, but there are a LOT more cars on the road every year (paying those taxes), so the balance cannot be that out of whack.

it burns me every year seeing how much of my property tax gets sent to Dallas ISD when i don't have any kids there.

Another thing - how would the tax monies be divied up between states if I go on a hunting trip to... let's say, Mississippi? I'm driving through three states and using their infrastructure so they should each get a cut of the funds. That scenario will never play out if the government is running the show. It's much too complex to track.

I think it's rediculous as well. Taxes in general are unfair to lots of people. The school taxes burn me up every year. 60% if my property taxes every year go to Magnolia ISD and I have 0 kids (well, a boy on the way). I've been paying these taxes since we bought our house and will be paying taxes until my son is well out of school, but will have to continue paying.

I also think Skyhawk hit the nail on the head with #3 above...

We would probably see a state income tax before then....be careful who you vote for and know your reps in your area. I would not be suprised to see more talk of the income tax...our neighbors, LA and AR have them.

That would require an amendement to the state constitution and if I'm correct that process requires a vote to the people of Texas. I don't see it making it if the general public votes. Then again I have seen VERY few bond packages get voted down around here so I'm probably giving too much credit to my fellow citizens.

This isn't political... is economics and funding infrastructure. Party affiliation doesn't really come into play other than a couple of misguided comments about BHO.
