    Suggestion?

We leave DFW on Aug 18th
Your import broker should take care of that. If you are using Coppersmith they will handle and have it shipped to your taxidermist.

I signed up for Global Rescue yesterday. 14 days with the add on in case something happens with the gov. or rebels or anything, it was $315 per person, since I’m taking my nephew and he’s not my immediate family, I had to get a policy for each of us.
Like all insurance it’s a waste of money UNLESS you need them.

Did you pay the final bill to the Outfitter with cash or credit?
Dip and ship company cash or credit?
I take $10k on trips, last trip to RSA I took it in RAND. Chase Bank had the money for me in one day. See what works best for your outfitter. Been 5 times and never an issue in RSA. I have never used a credit or debit card.
I had $10k in U.S. dollars for our Europe hunt during Christmas going thru Germany and had wanna be commando's asking a thousand questions. I knew the guidelines/rules and they did not. Almost missed our connection to Spain fooling with those mental midgets!

None of the animals you listed are two hefty for 45-55 pounds but I understand wanting to let your 375 eat. Personally, I would bring both.....or better yet, use their rifle!

I have a yearly family plan on Global Rescue as it is just another layer .....JUST IN CASE! We do 2-4 trips off U.S. soil per year, so you never know. And yes the $100 to get thru airports efficiently is PRICELESS!!!!

Do you think Global Entry is worth the money, since I have contracted with Africa Sky to get the gun permit and escort us thru the airport and to the guest house?
Or is that two different items....

              Hi sec,

Global entry is not for entering Africa or other foreign destinations... It is for US citizens wanting to expedite their re-entry back into the US from foreign soil....

If you plan on doing at least a few international trips in a 5-year span, I would recommend getting it. Upon your return back into the USA, you proceed to a kiosk instead of the immigration line. You scan your passport, get a ticket and go strait to customs. If you have nothing to claim, you walk out the door. Depending on the airport, you can save minutes to hours of waiting in line. My wife and I have used it on several occasions, and we love it, but the use has to justify the cost.

With Global Entry, you also get TSA Pre-check which allows you access into the "speed lane" of the TSA check points in most US airports. The TSA Pre-check is also very convenient in busy airports. The pre-check line is usually short and they do not make you take off shoes, and empty your carry-ons like in the standard TSA line..

BTW, The meet & greet service from Africa Sky is worth it. It is their version of Global Entry where the rep meets you at the gate and personally escorts you through immigration to the VIP line, and then trough SAPS for your rifle importation. It's a great service.

Ok I think I’ll skip Global Entry since this may be my only time to go to foreign soil to hunt. I’ve been to Canada hunting twice and it wasn’t bad coming back in, and I am TSA Pre check already.

Idk the percentage, but you can see a lot of obvious hunters (they have hunting packs for their carry on, or wear camo shirts, etc) on the plane. You can also spot a lot of folks that are obviouly not hunters too!

When I went in 2015, the funniest thing happened. Right after we sat down in the plane, a lady in the seat in front of me started telling everyone around her how she was going to Germany. She was obviously excited about her trip. She then started to ask everyone around her where they were going, and for what purpose.

When she got to me, I told her I was going to South Africa. She then asks me what I was going to be doing there. I said "hunting". Her face changed, she gasped, and said "OH,NOOOOOOOOOOO!".

With a big grin on my face, I immediately answered back without missing a beat, "OH, YEEEEEEEEEES!".

Funny thing; she never said another thing to me the rest of the flight!

Chances are that you will be able to meet a few hunters while waiting to board the plane. It is luck of the draw as to whether you will be seated next to a hunter or not.

If you fly during the peak of season from June-August there will be lots of hunters on the Delta and SAA flights to Jo'burg. The flight sucks, but the experience that awaits you in Africa is worth every uncomfortable minute...!

As of right now, only Delta and SAA offer direct flights from the USA to Jo'burg. There are other carriers that will get you there via stops in Europe or the UAE, but that will add many more hours of layovers and travel time to your journey. There are ways to deal with the flight... I personally recommend a few Rum & Cokes and an Ambien!

We leave San Antonio on June 5.

Also, i'm looking at travel insurance from AIG travel guard. Its about $900 each for my wife and I but includes emergency evac.

I won't need Global Rescue on top of this right?

How much did you pay for travel insurance?
