    Garage door opener problem.

Just in the last few days, in the mornings the remotes won't operate our garage door opener. It's just in the morning. In the afternoon they work fine. I replaced the batteries in all of the remotes and it didn't help. What could be the problem?

That’s strange. I recently had an issue with my door. It would only go up about 6 inches then stop. Turns out a spring was busted and it was putting a bind on the motor. Got that fixed but now the remote doesn’t work as well in terms of distance from the door. Who knows

This seems to be temp related.

The sun light may be effecting the sensors on the bottom of the door in the morning and not in the afternoon.

Had the same problem. Only in the mornings. Then it eventually got worse. It would close then go back up again. I tore it apart cleaned put it back together still had the same problem. Eventually it gave out all together. I repacked it recently with a Genie belt drive. The installer told me most likely the circuit board gave out. I can’t explain why it acted in the mornings especially in colder weather. I do know that if you run led bulbs as opposed to incandescent that causes issues. It’s a frequency problem.

You can get replacement boards. I do t know the cost. My opener was ten years old when it started acting up

This one is already here when we bought the house. That was in 1999.

You might try to clear the remotes and reprogram. Usually done by holding the program button on the back of the opener for 30 seconds depending on your model. I always hated those intermittent operator problems when I was in the door business.

Got a fair use out of it then. Get yourself a new opener and be amazed at how quietly openers can operate now compared to a 90's model ha.

Mine was about that old when I decided to replace it. Found one on clearance at the big box HD. Paid about $100 for a $200 opener. Easy install and .....oh the magic of technology improvements. It will be worth the upgrade. Also, I went with 3/4 hp instead of 1/2....mine is a double door.

                          oh look...what is that?

Would you recommend getting all new tracks Springs and everything when I replace the garage door openers? Seem to be having problems out of everything

You could probably operate a new one with your flip phone

Mine did the same thing. It was the light beam at the bottom of the door. Replaced those and adjusted the tension and she's good as new. I've had mine since the late 90's early 00's.
