Sounds about $6000 too much to me. Its over 30 years old. I bet it didnt cost $7000 new.

Based on those 2 pics, it's nicer than most you see for sale, but the cynic in me knows it's easy to hide things. I'd take a really close look for rust, bondo, worn out wiring, tires, etc. I'd like to know why the engine was rebuilt and what kind of miles it has, with receipts. You said it has no A/C, so it's probably a base model truck. What transmission? 3 on the tree, 4 speed, auto? If everything looks clean and original, it runs, drives and stops good, I'd offer $5k max, that's just me. People want more and more for them, but at the end of the day it's a run of the mill 80's pickup.

My youngest bought a 83. It was running, body in good shape, paint just so so. She paid $2700.00 for it. She turned down $5000.00 shortly after buying it. It had a 305 in it. Ran like a dog. It now has a rebuilt 350 and a rebuilt trans. I bet we have $5500 to $6500 in it already and while it now runs like a spotted *** ape it needs a fair bit of other stuff done to it.

The chrome breathers don't add $3K in value lol. Also from the pic it looks dropped some. If so and it wasn't done right(i.e. heated coil springs, jerry rigged rear suspension) you will have problems.
Looks to be pretty clean and I love those old short body trucks but no way I'd give $7K for that.

Heck, you could get a 2007/2008 Chevy 1500 for around $7K. I totally get it, if that's what he really wants; however, I'm in agreement with the above.
