[quote=Ag_Attack;13122036]Guy at the lease has an intimidator (mahindra made sxs) and it’s junk. Heard bad things about serviceability as well.[/ quote]
I think mahindra just throws their sticker on it, it’s not actually made by them.
I have a 40 hp mahindra and never had any trouble with it but my neighbor has a 100hp kubota and that think is NICE. I would be concerned with the larger mahindra, just since it’s new territory for them, but that’s just my 2 cents.
I would be concerned with Mahindra's ability to service that size tractor.
I don’t see any issue with them servicing. Not much difference between 60hp and a 105hp in technical terms. If we are talking 300hp ya little different set up.
Now I don’t know if I would be the test driver for a roughly four year old sub set for Mahindra, although tractor wise it’s not like they are re-inventing the wheel, and engineering wise they should of have enough time to work out bugs.
Manhindra has done a great job on thier sub 100hp tractors, cost would be a deciding factor for me if I was looking at the 100hp sub set.
We run Case Steighers but I use a Mahindra 60hp for food plots, mowing Etc and been pretty pleased.
I have a customer that has a 80+ hp Mahindra, and it’s been in the shop more than he has used it. I don’t think it’s been anything major, but he is really soured with it.
I bought a Mahindra 5570 last month and love it so far. 5 year/3K hour warranty. Everybody said "buy Kubota", but it was another $10K for basically the same platform.
Between me and my dad we have 15 tractors about to look at another soon,
Kubota wouldnt even be on my list of tractors i would entertain.
We own John Deeres, Fords , Cases a massey and CAT Dozers. (and an old allis dozer PAIN TO GET parts)
There is one thing to be said about CAT and John Deere.
I dont care if its the first one they built or one built yesterday you can get a part for it if it goes bad.
I hear people say yea but they are way more expensive, And they are but 10,20 ,30 years down the road will you be able to buy parts for it or not is what matters.
Case is horrible about parts being 15-20 years old they obsolete them. Ford is about as bad.
Kubota cant even supply new parts. I know of guys that have kubotas in the hay business and they have tractors down for 2-3 months at a time due to parts being BO from overseas. Most of them have traded them in on John Deere now due to parts availability.
Mahindra concerns me the same way i know of a few people that have them and the only major problems i have heard is AC problems as of now.
John deere parts are really high but 99% of the time you can buy them and thats better than having a blivet you cant get a part for.
Ive seen several of these other brands of tractors go to the way side after a few years. EX. Farmtrac, long, white, montana and others.
My point to all of this. When you buy a vehicle people never think about ford, chevy or dodge going away so the parts are endless.
But when it comes to tractors its not all about price, Parts availability needs to be a big deciding factor. Because they all break down at some point.
hopefully someone will come along to give you more info on the mahindra but i just wanted to give you something to think about because its a big chunk your about to spend.
I think it also depends how much use it’s getting too. My neighbor’s tractor is over two years (maybe even three years old) but only has 100 hrs on it.
It has been in the shop once but that was due to repeated operator error and was nothing major.
I know the basic mahindras are bullet proof and they make parts for them, they may be hard to find but they are out there.
....the only major problems i have heard is AC problems as of now. .....
This is primarily why I bought an open cab tractor. We've got a Ford/New Holland 7740 that the AC is always acting up on. There's nothing quite like being in a cab tractor in August when the **** AC is out, it's like sitting under a magnifying glass. I'm not going to have to be on mine every day and can usually plan what I need to do when the weather isn't terrible.
