This is where I want to go next.

We have been to Gulf Shores twice and it is great. Not too crowded and lots of family things to do there. The water is nice, but nothing compared to beaches east of there.

We went to Panama City, FL a few years ago and really liked it too. The water clarity is unreal. The public beaches were a tad crowded, so we spent our days at the St. Andrews State Park. It was much less crowded and has a nice jetty to fish from and a really cool "kiddie pond" (a shallow water area protected by the jetty).

It beats the heck out of Destin, much more laid back and not crowded but a longer drive.

Have you looked into going to the Caribbean? By the time you add up all the things such as time and gas to get to Florida, place to rent, things to do, food, ect it just might be the same cost to go to a really nice all inclusive resort in the Caribbean. Where there is TONS of stuff to do right in the resort, many pools, water park, sailing, snorkeling, shows, put put golf, ect and the fishing charter will pick you up right there! Just something to think about.
